Fue testigo de la apertura democr\u00e1tica de 1973, per\u00edodo al que califica como un \u201cdestape\u201d. A lo largo de su carrera vivi\u00f3 en carne propia distintos episodios represivos que la hicieron sentir a la facultad como una instituci\u00f3n hostil y angustiante. Esa situaci\u00f3n la hizo elegir hacer su tesis de licenciatura en el INTI y, luego de doctorarse, ir a trabajar a la CNEA donde desarroll\u00f3 una extensa carrera.
